DONAVAN is an independent New York–based menswear label founded by designer Matthew Josh. The brand reinterprets everyday American dress through the lens of New York’s Black and Caribbean communities, drawing on nostalgia, labor, and personal history.
Rooted in workwear, tailoring, and utilitarian uniforms, DONAVAN focuses on strong patternmaking, durable materials, and small-batch production. Each garment is designed and constructed in New York in collaboration with a small network of local makers.
Through denim, outerwear, and everyday yet experimental staples, the brand builds an evolving wardrobe that reflects the resilience, resourcefulness, and lived experiences of working families across New York’s Caribbean diaspora.
